Client Spotlight: Krystal Restaurants

Written by Leslie | 10/3/23 1:00 PM

The first Krystal restaurant opened in Chattanooga, TN in 1932. The company has since grown to almost 300 locations and is now headquartered in Dunwoody, GA.  Krystal Restaurants is known for their small, square burgers aka "Krystals".

I had the opportunity to sit down with Krystal Restaurants Vice President of Business Intelligence, Adrian Dragomir, to talk about how Mirus helps analysts get the information they need and turn it into visualizations.

Tell me about your experience with Mirus

I started using Mirus a long, long time ago at different companies including Quaker Steak and Lube and Taco Mac

How hard is it to teach someone to use Mirus?

It’s extremely easy. Pretty much any kind of financial analyst or marketing analyst can pick it up in a very short time without additional training.

How have you seen Mirus change over the years?

Mirus has two good parts, one is the constant and one is the constant change. The constant part is nice. Mirus has forever been able to integrate any kind of data sources which is great. Mirus is also receptive to any kind of suggestions, ideas, and you just make them happen. Then the constant change is that Mirus constantly evolves the platform in a nice, good, useful way.

What features are you most excited about?

All of them I saw today that are in the works, very exciting.

What current features do you use the most?

Besides all of them. Alerts, sparklines, any kind of graphs, N-steps, group alerts recently has been very nice. So many of them.

Why do you like graphs?

Graphs are easier to understand. There are a nice visualization that gives people a better opportunity to take action on what they see rather than being lost into a sea of numbers that are meaningless and they might not read all of them.

You've been at companies that don't have Mirus. What is the difference in trying to get data?

It’s painful. It’s either painful with people using only Excel and making complicated things. Excel is great, don’t get me wrong here, you can do quick visualization with it but you also have to spend a lot of time getting the data together before you start analyzing.

The other option is building your own model in any kind of reporting platform and building a data warehouse like PowerBI and things like this. But then you need a data scientist in-house all the time. While Mirus does everything at once, both data warehousing and reporting and evolving the features all the time. So it’s way easier when you have a turnkey solution that does it for you.

This is your 1st MCON, what did you think?

It’s very informative, it’s exciting, I like it. It’s a good investment of time.
